As we are all aware, access to clean and safe drinking water is a fundamental human right that is unfortunately denied to many individuals across the world. Even in our local community, a significant portion of the population, one in ten to be precise, lack this vital resource. Fortunately, this year, Enderun College: Helping Hands took it upon themselves to alleviate this issue.
Their solution was the ‘Bottled Water Drive’ – a project designed to quench the thirst and aid those in need of relief during the scorching summer days. The team at Enderun College: Helping Hands was fully committed to providing water to anyone in need, and the donations for the project started flowing in as early as mid-January.
With the generous contribution of funds from learners at the school, the team was able to purchase bottled water for those who required it the most. With a total donation of 48 bottles of water, the team was now ready to make a genuine impact.
On Wednesday, February 22, 2023, learners from grades ten to twelve took to the streets of Geduld (and surrounding areas), armed with nothing but bottles of refreshing water and big smiles to hydrate and help people beat the summer heat. The response was overwhelming – individuals were elated to receive this precious resource and accepted it with open arms and cheerful smiles. What made the occasion even more special was the drive’s timing, which was during the morning break when individuals were most in need of a refreshing drink.
All in all, the Bottled Water Drive was a huge success. We would like to extend a huge thank you to our generous learners, and to everyone who helped make this project a reality. Together, we have shown just how much of a difference a little bit of kindness and generosity can make in the world. Let us all raise a glass (of water) to the Enderun College: Helping Hands team, and to the extraordinary spirit of kindness and compassion that makes our community so exceptional.
